The Friends of Wedgewood Park group started in 2015 as a way for concerned neighbors to get together to come up with ideas to save the wading pool. The ideas went beyond the wading pool, and new plans for annual events and activities started to go in the works. On top of our annual Night Trick Or Treating, Pumpkin Carving Contest and Easter Egg Hunt, Friends of Wedgewood Park have hosted a concert in the park for National Night Out, a Spring park clean-up, a Winter ice-skating event, Holiday ornament and tree decorating, a neighborhood football watching event in the pavilion, and a few neighborhood pot-lucks.
Most events are free or are set at a very low cost, but we kindly accept donations to help us with future events and to help save the wading pool. For now Milwaukee County has allowed us to keep the pool but have told us that once the pool (in need of repair) breaks, it will be gone. With our persistence and generous donations, we are hoping that we can continue to save the pool.
We are always happy to see new faces and hear new ideas at our Friends of Wedgewood Park meetings which take place every second Tuesday of the month at 6PM to 7:30PM. Come join us!
